Open Lab

13-16 July 2026


In the middle of summer we’re opening up the doors. We’re inviting those who’ve worked through the Introduction to Ecological Health online course to a series of open-lab sessions. In these sessions we’ll be inviting people to ask specific questions in relation to the course content. We’re aiming to do this in an open-house style where others will be joining too as a means to cross pollinate learning and invite feedback and ideas from all attendees.

By having conversations contextualised to the Introduction to Ecological Health online course we can work collectively to learn and embody health as an ecological construct. Monday 13th July

This session is for people interested in asking questions and exploring topics related to Module 1: What is Ecological Health?

We’ll be inviting enquiries on topics such as pollution and biological stress as well as the role that data has in contextualising and communicating our health.

After a brief introduction the session will split into two breakout rooms that will specialise on

  1. Susceptibility & Stress;

  2. Data & Health.

Two members of the Centric Lab team will be present in each room to help how we can.

Tuesday 14th July

This session is for people interested in asking questions and exploring topics related to Module 2: Pathways to Health Injustice.

We’ll be inviting enquiries on topics that are looking at the intersection of health and social justice justice, racism, trauma, gender discrimination, and PTSD.

After a brief introduction the session will split into two breakout rooms that will specialise on

  1. Race & Class;

  2. Environmental Justice.

Two members of the Centric Lab team will be present in each room to help how we can.

Wednesday 15th July

This session is for people interested in asking questions and exploring topics related to Module 3: Determinants of Health.

We’ll be inviting enquiries on topics exploring how structural and systemic factors such as housing policy, local democracy, and the economy relate to health.

After a brief introduction the session will split into two breakout rooms that will specialise on:

  1. The Built Environment;

  2. The Equality Act (2010).

Two members of the Centric Lab team will be present in each room to help how we can.

Thursday 16th July

This session is for people interested in asking questions and exploring topics related to Module 4: Community Health Impact Assessments.

We’ll be inviting enquiries on topics exploring how communities can use the CHIA as a process and policy supported tool to increase health equity and justice

After a brief introduction the session will split into two breakout rooms that will specialise on:

  1. CHIA as a tool of power, accountability, and politics;

  2. CHIA as a tool of community relationships.

Two members of the Centric Lab team will be present in each room to help how we can.

All sessions will be held over Google Meet between 12-2pm (UK time). All sessions will be led in English however our team does have capacity to answer in Spanish.
